Lady Aces fall early, Trinity (Whitesville) goes 3-0 in 3rd Region All-A Classic

The Lady Raiders volleyball team grabbed a clean sweep in the 3rd Region All-A Classic on Saturday, defeating Owensboro Catholic, Hancock County and Edmonson County.

Trinity (Whitesville) opened up the day with a three-set match against the Lady Aces, winning 26-28, 25-19, 25-15. Owensboro Catholic did its best defensively to try and stay alive against the Lady Raiders, as senior Emily Christian (21), junior Karson Tipmore (17), junior Isabelle Reisz (15) and junior Blair Riney all finished in double figures in digs.

Trinity went on to sweep Hancock County 25-18, 25-12 and Edmonson County 25-12, 25-17 to close out the day. Sophomore Caroline Hall led the way defensively with 38 digs on the day, while junior Georgia Howard (30), senior Abby Payne (29), sophomore Sarah Payne (16), senior Josie Aull (12) and sophomore Kenzie McDowell (10) all finished in double figures.

Howard led the charge offensively with 20 kills, while junior Hannah Nash added 13 and McDowell and sophomore Addison Mills added 10 each. The Lady Raiders advance to 14-4 overall, now riding a four-game winning streak going into a road matchup with Daviess County on Monday.
