Adoption fees are being waived on pit bull and pit mixes at the Daviess County Animal Care & Control through the end of October in honor of Pit Bull Awareness Month.
The fees are waived with an approved application, which can be filled out here.

Each year, the shelter receives roughly 3,000 animals. Many dogs at the shelter are either a pit mix or resemble pit bulls.
“These dogs are often euthanized more in shelters because of the overwhelming numbers and are usually the least adopted,” according to a Facebook post from Friends of Daviess County Animal Care and Control, the group that helps promote awareness about animals at the shelter. “Our shelter struggles every year with these same issues.”
