The Red Devils were able to stifle Evansville Harrison from deep in the fourth on Wednesday night, pairing that with strong performances from seniors Kenyatta Carbon and Ethan Pendleton en route to a 77-74 win at home.
Evansville Harrison replicated a strong first quarter from beyond the arc in the third, coming out of halftime to help them hit three more from deep. Now with eight threes as a team throughout the night, Evansville Harrison had shot themselves into a 59-57 lead going into the fourth.
But Owensboro was able to outscore them in the third despite the barrage of triples and limited them to just one three in the final quarter of play, while Carbon (seven), Pendleton (seven) and Moss (five) combined for 19 of the team’s 20 to come away with the 77-74 win.
Carbon led all scorers with 32 points on the night, while Pendleton had 20, Moss had 11 and senior Talas Taylor had 10 points. The Red Devils sit at 5-2 overall with the second straight win at home, now awaiting a road matchup with Apollo at 7 p.m. on Friday.
