Kenergy began work to bring high-speed fiber broadband internet to rural areas last summer. With the first member already connected, the cooperative is well on its way to providing all members access to high-speed internet.
“We are standing with our goal to have fiber available to all members at the completion of this project,” said Kenergy communications and public relations specialist Leslie Barr.
Kenergy employees and contract crews for Conexon Connect are currently working on make-ready, right-of-way trimming and installing connectivity huts. Barr said make-ready work consists of replacing poles for ground clearance in preparation for fiber attachments.
“Right-of-way trimming work consists of clearing limbs and brush so that fiber can run along our power line route,” she said. “Installing connectivity huts allows us to prepare the equipment and fiber cables.”
To stay up-to-date on when the internet will reach your area of service, visit conexonconnect.com and sign up for updates.
“This does not commit you to service,” Barr said. “Signing up gives your contact information to Connect and will allow them to send you construction updates and information when sign-ups are available in your zone.”
