DCSO: 3 arrested following seizure of fentanyl pills and meth

Three people were arrested Monday after law enforcement seized fentanyl pills, suspected meth, and other drugs at a residence on East Yellowstone Drive, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. 

Joshua Lewis Dawson, 36, and Kimberly Dawn Renfrow, 33, are facing several drug-related charges stemming from the incident. Alta R. Dickens, 31, was also at the residence and was arrested on four outstanding arresting warrants. All three are currently lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.

According to a release, on Monday DCSO located Dawson, who already had two charges of controlled buys of methamphetamines (2 grams or more). DCSO conducted surveillance on him at Renfrow’s residence in the 2900 block of East Yellowstone Drive. 

Detectives observed Dawson exit a vehicle in the driveway and approached him, according to the release. 

“Based on Dawson’s statements and illegal drugs in plain view in the vehicle, a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, residence and persons. Execution of the search warrant of the car resulted in the seizure of a quantity of fentanyl pills (fake perc 30’s), a large bag of marijuana, a large bag of Adderall pills, several empty baggies, digital scales, a plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine, and cash,” DCSO officials said. “Execution of the search warrant on the residence resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and several fentanyl pills.”

Officials said that upon arresting Renfrow, she revealed she had a baggie with a quantity of methamphetamines on her person. 

Dawson was charged with the following offenses:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Offense (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives)
  • Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8 oz), 1st Offense
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance – 2nd Degree, 1st Offense (>or=20 Dosage Units Drug Unspecified Schedule 3)
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance – 1st Degree, 2nd or > Offense (>or= 2 grams meth) — 3 counts
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
  • Failure To Appear on charges of:
    • Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License
    • No Registration Plates
    • Failure to Produce Insurance Card

Renfrow was charged with the following offenses:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance – 1st Degree, 1st Offense (>or= 2 grams meth)
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy Possess
  • Possession of Controlled Substance – 1st Degree (Fentanyl)

Dickens’ warrants were all for non-payment of court costs, fees or rines on charges of:

  • Failure to Produce Insurance Card
  • Speeding over 10 mph (Limited Access)
  • License Required
  • No Registration Receipt
  • No registration Plates
  • Disorderly Conduct – 2nd Degree
