A semi-truck overturned Wednesday morning, resulting in a liquid asphalt spill southbound on New Hartford Rd and westbound on E. Byers Ave, Owensboro Police and Fire departments report. The two roads are closed while they clear the site.
There are no injuries resulting from the accident, OPD reports.
Kentucky State Police has taken over the collision, while Emergency Management is assessing the situation on the scene. The state environmental agency has been contacted. There is no immediate flammable or respiratory hazard for those in the vicinity, OFD reports.
Southbound traffic on New Hartford is detoured on Burlew Blvd. Northbound traffic on New Hartford is still open.
