The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office presented a token of appreciation on Monday to the owners of Dee’s Diner for helping out with an investigation that led to multiple drug-related arrests last week.

On Friday, DCSO announced that a small number of employees at the diner along with inmates at the Daviess County Detention Center had been coordinating to smuggle drugs into the jail. The operation was uncovered Wednesday, and six people are facing charges. DCSO said the owners were not involved in the attempted smuggling operation and were instrumental in a quick investigation.

Later that day, the diner owners issued a statement and provided some details of what happened and said they are doing everything they can to rectify the situation.

On Monday, held their weekly staff meeting over breakfast at Dee’s to show their support for the business “as a sign of respect for the owners and staff that were not involved.” Sheriff Brad Youngman also presented a token of appreciation to the restaurant.
