
Charles “Corky” Steinmetz, Sr., 85, of Owensboro, formerly of Evansville, passed away January 25, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 7, 1933 in Evansville to the late Charles Henry and Hazel Inez Steinmetz. Corky was a very social person who never met a stranger. He loved to bowl and was a Hall of Fame member of Kentucky Bowling Hall of Fame. Corky also shined in his ability to play baseball. He pitched in the minor leagues and in the Army until an injury forced him to retire that dream. Corky retired from National Southwire Aluminum as a Maintenance Foreman. He had integrity, was steadfast, had a strong work ethic and a personality that drew people to him. Corky will be missed by many.
Corky is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Wanda Steinmetz; children, Tammy Steinmetz White (John), Charles Samuel Steinmetz, Jr. (Connie), Scott Lewis Steinmetz (Holly), Debra Ellen Capobianco (Joe), Dennis Edward Daniel (Starla); granddaughters, Jada Jennings (O’Bryan), Dana Blackburn (Robert), Amy Millay (Sterling), Jennifer Capobianco, Ashley Steinmetz; grandsons, Charles Clifton White (Breanne), Samuel White, Taylor Steinmetz, Hunter Steinmetz, Travis Steinmetz, Daniel Capobianco, Jonathan Capobianco; great-grandchildren, Brayton Blackburn, Brenna Blackburn, Brooklyn Blackburn, Nora Jennings, Liam Jennings, Finnian Jennings, and Stella Millay.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 4:00p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Cemetery in Evansville, IN.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Christ Presbyterian Church of Owensboro or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
