Owensboro Health Regional Hospital officials said they expected to receive the latest seasonal COVID-19 vaccines this week, but shipping for both Pfizer and Moderna shots has been delayed. They now expect to receive them by the end of September and will open up online scheduling appointments for individuals aged 12 and up once they arrive.
Children ages 6 months to 11 years old should make an appointment with their pediatric office when scheduling opens up, hospital officials said.
A release from Owensboro Health said, “As a reminder, the government is no longer providing free COVID-19 vaccines, but most private insurance will cover the cost of the annual dose (similar to a flu shot). For adults who are uninsured or underinsured, the CDC’s Bridge Access Program partners with health departments, CVS and Walgreens to cover the vaccine cost. The scheduling page at OwensboroHealth.org, once live, will link to information about the Bridge Access Program for those who need it.”
