The Greater Owensboro Leadership Institute is kicking off an initiative they hope will guide Owensboro’s next community-led transformation. The public is invited to attend a forum tonight to express their ideas and aspirations for the future of Owensboro-Daviess County.
The Greater Owensboro Leadership Institute has partnered with The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation for the initiative. Harwood’ Founder and President Rich Harwood will deliver a keynote address at tonight’s event.
The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the H.L. Neblett Community Center (801 West 5th Street).
The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with a mission of equipping people, organizations, communities, and networks with the tools to bridge divides, create a culture of shared responsibility, and build their community’s civic capacities.
The partnership goals between the two organizations are to generate community-led transformation by addressing Owensboro’s values and strengthening Owensboro’s civic culture, allowing for effective and sustainable unity.
In addition to the public forum, the Harwood Institute will also host 36 in-depth interviews with local leaders and 16 focused conversations with community residents.
The goal is to understand the key issues and underlying conditions that make up the community, and a report will be published and shared with the community in early 2024.
Once the report is published, The Harwood and Greater Owensboro Leadership institutes will convene a series of roundtables with local leaders, organizations, and residents to discuss implications for the community and explore the next steps.
