The Strawberry Festival returns to The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Company for a 3rd year this June. The event features a massive vendor fair and many strawberry-themed food and treats.

The Cottage will host the event on June 8-9, promising live music, more than 100 vendors, a petting zoo, pony rides, and several more family activities. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Marlene Knight, owner of The Cottage and event organizer, said they’re looking to expand on the 125 vendors they’ve had in recent years. Click here to register or learn more about becoming a vendor.

“This is our third year, and we really want to increase the number of vendors,” Knight said. “This has ended up being the largest event we host. We’re also exploring ways for different civic and car clubs to play a role in the event.”

Knight is from the Louisville and southern Indiana area and recalls spending time at the Lanesville Strawberry Festival. She said it was a large event and she drew much of her inspiration from there, wanting to offer something out of the ordinary to Owensboro.

“We grow strawberries, and I know they’re popular in Daviess County,” she said. “We came up with the idea after so much success with the Pumpkin and Pickle Festival. We’re just always focused on offering something that’s not available here.”

For now, Knight has Dakota Hayden and Anna Bell Whitledge booked for live music. She’s still securing some bluegrass and other entertainment acts.

There are also talks of a new competition, with more information coming soon.

Knight opened The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Company at 6869 KY 56 in Owensboro over 3 years ago and has been growing and evolving the business ever since. The restaurant doubles as a bakery and specialty coffee shop with several options for breakfast, lunch, drinks, and desserts.
