
Mary Marie Stewart, 103, of Central City, Kentucky, passed away on March 1, 2024 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on December 15, 1920 in Moorman, Kentucky to the late Cooper & Sallie Craig Bishop. Throughout her life she worked at GE, Green River Chair Company, Muhlenberg Community Hospital and Laundered barber capes and towels at Ellison Barbershop. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. Her Hobbies included piecing quilts, canning tomatoes, and playing cards. For years she had family night dinners on Tuesday’s. She would cook delicious meals and yummy desserts for the whole family. She was a wonderful driver and her elderly friends who couldn’t drive, she would take them on their errands.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, T.H. Stewart; son, Neville Ellison; six brothers, Donald, John, Roy, Rollie, Laster, and Sam; three sisters, Louise Swift, Grace Edds, and Wilda Kavalir.
Survivors include her son, Raymond (Brenda) Ellison; daughter, Wilda (Ronnie) Gray; daughter-in-law, Beverly Ellison; five grandchildren, Tina Martin, Lynn (Shannon) Ellison, Sallie (Mark) Bullock, Lara (Taylor) Hiedorn, Mary (Chris) Williams; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held Monday. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
