The Whitesville Lions Club will host its annual Chili Supper and Pie Auction on April 19. The fundraiser supports Wendell Foster and Puzzle Pieces, two local non-profit charities that support individuals with disabilities.
The auction will begin at 6 p.m. at the Whitesville Senior Citizen Center, located at 10345 KY 54. Chili, hot dogs, and drinks will be served starting at 5 p.m.
Attendees can expect a variety of sweets up for auction. Last year’s donations included Monastery pecan pies made by the Passionist Nuns, cupcakes, cookies, various cakes, and multiple pies. A total of $12,000 was raised at the 2023 event for the two non-profits. Each Lions Club member brings a dessert, and numerous residents from the Whitesville and Owensboro communities also donate baked goods.
Donated cakes, pies, and other desserts can be delivered before 4 p.m. on the day of the auction to the Whitesville Senior Citizen Center.
Marketing chairperson Cathy Roby said club members look forward to the annual auction.
“This fundraiser is very dear to the hearts of our Lions Club members. It is exciting and entertaining, especially when some of our donated pies and cakes reach bids of over $1,000 each,” she said. “Some of the residents of Wendell Foster and clients of Puzzle Pieces attend every year to join in the fun, and the glee on their faces is priceless. Our club has always been honored to support these two wonderful organizations that provide outstanding services to those with special needs.”
