The Pub on Second will host a Pups & Pints Silent Disco this Saturday. Organizers encourage attendees to bring their favorite K9 downtown for an evening of dancing, drinks, and more to raise money for Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky (SparKy).

SparKy is a local nonprofit dedicated to lowering the euthanasia rates of dogs and cats in area shelters. They also educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering and promote animal adoption in Kentucky.

The disco will transpire just outside the Pub on a closed 2nd Street. For the silent disco, dancers can tune into three different channels boasting an assortment of musical options. This marks the third disco of the summer series, which features a different theme each time.

This week’s theme is a Glow Party.

“Because we extended the time of this one to coincide with Pups & Pints, we’ll end up having two to three different crowds throughout that period of time,” said organizer Bill Brown. “We had over 175 people attend our last disco. The reception has been great.”

Palmer Dempsey spearheaded the Silent Disco series, which he said caters to a diverse crowd.

“We have a bubble machine and family-friendly music for the kids,” he said. “We’re also looking forward to people having fun with their dogs and bringing them on as their dance partners. We will have other opportunities to donate in-kind and make monetary donations to SparKy.”

“We are really appreciative of the Pub’s continued support,” said John Austin with SparKy. “Bill has given us opportunities to make the community aware of who we are and what we are doing and he’s put money behind us as well. This event is just another example of that.”
