
Emmett Louis Simmons, age 93 of Lawrenceburg, KY passed away July 15, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on October 26, 1930, son of the late Herman and Pauline Roberts Simmons. Emmett was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Woodford County. Emmett enjoyed woodworking and had a talent for making furniture for his family, which they treasured. He was not someone to be idle for a long period of time, so he used his carpentry skills to help his family and others with renovation jobs, whether it be hanging siding, a new porch or general updates to their homes or his church. His love for his family was enormous and they adored him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Wanda, grandson Cody and siblings Mary McFelia, Jean Belcher, Shirley Wimberly, Ruth Tucker and James Simmons.
Emmett is survived by 3 children: Paul (Angela) Simmons of Versailles, KY; Mark (Lin) Simmons of Nicholasville, KY and Denise (John) Graham of Charlestown, IN.
10 grandchildren: Paula, Amie, Meredith, Shelby, Nathan, Cassidy, Darnell, Tony, Jasmine and Nicole.
10 great grandchildren: Elias, Cora, Luella, Tyler, Emmett, Emerson, Jeremiah, Geneva, Tori and Vonte.
1 brother: Darrell (Vicky) Simmons of Owensboro, KY.
3 sisters: Dorothy Squires and Sandra Simmons of Hardinsburg, KY; Lois (Rudy) Carwile of Westview, KY.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 4 PM with burial in the McQuady Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM on Monday. All times are central.
