
Bishop Michael Dale Brown, Sr., 78 years of age, Pastor of Deliverance Christian Center passed on peacefully July 17, 2024 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Michael (Mike as he was better known) was born June 20,1946 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Hubert and Eva Brown. Through his life, Mike faced many challenges with his health. As a young man he was diagnosed with asthma and a rare condition retinitis of the eye, but neither of which stopped his determination to make a difference in other people’s lives. Mike proclaimed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and diligently served in the ministry for over 57 years as a pastor, teacher, and counselor to countless people. His work in the ministry started way back in 1966 in a little store front church on Leitchfield Road under the name of The Owensboro Church of The Lord Jesus Christ. Bishop Brown was a graduate from Miracle Valley Bible College of A.A. Allen ministries.
After his service to our county in the Navy, Mike went on to retire from the Orbit Gas company, was made an honorary Kentucky Cornell, and in his later years Mike and Brenda opened their home as foster parents to a countless number of foster children whom they loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Michael Dale Brown Jr.; a grandson, Madison (Hunter) Brown; two brothers, Ray Lewis Brown and Hubert Brown (Jr.); and three sisters, Alma Jean Hendrix, Rita (Diane) Oliver, and Doris Faye Madewell.
Rev. Michael Brown leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years Brenda Brown; three sons, Timothy (Charlene) Brown, Mark Brown, and Noah Brown; sister, Anna Lee Morris; his special niece, Carolyn Atkinson; dear friend, Linda Simpson; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Celebration of Life for Michael Brown will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
