Southern Star Cares, a team-led nonprofit organization at Souther Star Central Gas Pipeline, will soon be accepting applications from local nonprofits to receive grants worth up to $50,000.
Any tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization serving Daviess County, is eligible to apply. The application link, along with more information about the process is available at southernstarcares.org. The application link will be available on August 12.
Grants will be awarded in three tiers: $2,500-$10,000; $10,000-$25,000; and $25,000-$50,000.
Southern Star Cares’ grants are funded from team members’ contributions. More than $100,000 was distributed to 2023 grant winners. All funds raised by Southern Star Cares go to grant recipients, with no administrative fees or deductions.
“Our team was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support local nonprofits in our inaugural campaign last year,” said Rita Daming, President of Southern Star Cares and Reliability Analyst at Southern Star. “Seeing that positive impact makes us that much more excited to kick off the 2024 campaign.”
The grant application period will remain open through September 6. Grant finalists will be announced the week of November 14, and recipients will be named the week of December 16.
Grant recipients will be chosen based on the information provided on their applications, a review by the Southern Star Cares Board of Directors, team member focus groups, and a vote from employee donors who contributed to the Southern Star Cares fundraising campaign.
“By working together, we can help build a brighter future in our community,” Daming said.
