Donald S. “Poppy” Leibfreid, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his home. He was born November 8, 1931 in Daviess County to the late Bill and Verna Leibfreid. Don was a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant and also retired from Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital. After retirement, he enjoyed working on his farm, raising his garden, custom wood-working, and sitting in his swing. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Sue Leibfreid.
Don is survived by his children, Ronnie Leibfreid, Carla Boehman, Tommy Sparks (Nancy), and Eddie Sparks (Brenda); and two grandchildren, Aaron Davidson and Seth Sparks.
Funeral services will be Noon Thursday, August 15, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of the services at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
