Joseph “J.D.” Langford, 84, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 at his home. He was born February 17, 1940 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Rev. Sherman Langford and Myrtle Barnett Langford. J.D. was a minister in Los Angeles for 36 years, in Kennett, Missouri for 5 ½ years, and in Louisville for 1 ½ year. He was a member of Christ Redeemer Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Langford, Edgar Langford, Naomi Langford, and Esther Langford.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sondra Langford; children, Bryan Langford (Linda Lee), Karyn Cole (Ben), and Joel Langford (Belen); eight grandchildren, Shannon Langford (Emilee), Kristen Gonzalez (Anthony), Lacey Hamilton (Matt), Hannah Cole, Anthony Cole, Louis Cole, Brayden Langford, and Zoe Moreno; four great-grandchildren, Jax Gonzalez, Colton Gonzalez, Nate Martinez, and Maverick Langford; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory, officiated by Rev. Charles R. Combs and Rev. Jim Wells.
