Karen Sue Pippin

Karen Sue Pippin, 73, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Owensboro on March 28, 1951, Karen lived life on her own terms, leaving a lasting impression everywhere she went. She brought energy and passion to everything she did, whether fiercely loving her family, spending time with friends, or pouring her creativity into her sewing and crafting projects.

Those who knew her will smile as they reminisce on the funny, strong willed, and opinionated woman we all knew and loved. She unapologetically spoke her mind, and stood up for what she believed in. She was a force, and no amount of words could possibly do justice to summarize her, and she would agree.

Karen found purpose in her roles as a mother, wife, sister, Nana, cousin, and friend. She had a unique ability to make every person she encountered feel special. Immensely proud of her family, Karen centered her life around them, never missing a ballgame, recital, school function, or family gathering. Her love and advice went hand in hand, both of which will echo through our lives in her absence.

Karen has now joined her beloved husband of 57 years in Heaven. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and vibrant memories that are as unforgettable as she was. Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the stories and laughter she inspired.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Pippin, and her parents, Marie Worthington Cook and William A. “Bill” Cook, Jr.

She is survived by her sons, John Michael “Mike” Pippin II and Andy (Marjie) Pippin; her sister, Connie Cook (Janie Roberts); her four grandchildren, John Michael “Trey” (Madeline) Pippin III, Haley (Colton) Burden, Hunter Pippin, and Seth Pippin; and her four great-grandchildren, Addesyn Burden, Weston Burden, Sawyer Pippin, and John Michael “Ford” Pippin IV.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
