Ethel “Christine” Vowels, 72, of Owensboro, passed away September 8, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Christine was born in Chicago, IL on August 20, 1952, to the late Claude E. and Rose M. Noffsinger. She worked at Goodwill where she enjoyed being around her co-workers that loved her very much. She was also a dedicated Christian, who put her all into church services, children’s church, dinners and meetings. God fearing, a great cook, selfless, and occasionally a bit stubborn, but always loved with her whole heart, Christine was the cornerstone of the family and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Christine was also preceded in death by her son, David L. Vowels; brothers, Johnny Noffsinger and Joe Whitney; sisters, Edna Stewart, Laurine Bidwell, and Betty Whitney, and sisters-in-law, Margaret Noffsinger and Suzie Noffsinger.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Hubert L. Vowels Sr. Christine and Hubert met in Owensboro in 1969 and married July 14, 1971, and have been side by side ever since. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her surviving children include Donnie E. Capps, Hubert L. (Lori) Vowels, Jr. and Vickie (Frank) Montgomery, along with twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
