STOMP, the international percussion sensation, is returning to Owensboro for two performances to kick off its 30th year of touring.

The performances will be at 7 p.m. on October 7 and 8 at the RiverPark Center.

From its beginnings as a street performance in the UK, STOMP has grown over the past 29 years with shows in more than 50 countries and in front of more than 26 million people.

Created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, STOMP has continued to change by creating new material to bring music to everyday objects.

The performers “make a rhythm out of anything we can get our hands on that makes a sound,” Cresswell said.

A release describes the performance as “A unique combination of percussion, movement and visual comedy, STOMP has created its own inimitable, contemporary form of rhythmic expression: both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in the hands of an idiosyncratic band of body percussionists.  It is a journey through sound, a celebration of the everyday and a comic interplay of characters wordlessly communicating through dance and drum.”

Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on September 25 and will be available at the RiverPark Center Box Office, Ticketmaster.com, or stomponline.com. Patrons can access to presale tickets through 11:45 p.m. on September 24 via those same outlets.
