The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is scheduled to return on November 23, with the theme “Vintage Christmas.” Applications are now being accepted for parade entries.

“Our first parade was in 1936 and this year’s theme is a Vintage Christmas,” said board member Jane Head. “But we’ll be looking to the future as well as celebrating Christmases past.”

Nonprofit entries are $50 and commercial entries are $150 through early-bird registration, which ends on October 31.

“We invite all businesses and nonprofits to be part of the fun this year,” Head said. “Entries can be made online at ChristmasParade.net. The small entry fees help us to offset our costs.”

There are full sponsorships available as well, ranging from $250-$1,000. More details can be found on ChristmasParade.net.

The committee teased the announcement of this year’s grand marshal, only saying that both the grand marshal and honorary grand marshal are “Owensboro favorites and that there will be a special honoree, an Owensboro hometown hero.”

While the city helps with some aspects of the parade, the event is actually put on by the nonprofit Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association. The Association has a board and utilizes volunteers to host the parade. The funds to produce the parade come from entry fees, vendor fees, sponsorships, and donations.
