Two people have been charged with child endangerment and drug offenses following a search warrant that led to the discovery of a shotgun, meth, fentanyl, pills, and other drug items in the home, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, at approximately 12 p.m. on September 24, detectives with the DCSO Special Investigations Unit, General Investigations Unit and K-9 Unit executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of Helga Court in response to complaints from the public about ongoing drug trafficking.

The residents, Rebecca A. Denson, 33, and Jesse R. Taylor, 34, were home at the time of the search warrant, according to DCSO.

“During the search, detectives seized a shotgun with ammunition, several meth pipes, burnt foils containing fentanyl, fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, methamphetamine, several digital scales, ‘loaded’ uncapped syringes, a baggie containing gabapentin pills, and U.S. currency. The evidence located is indicative of an ongoing drug trafficking operation. Alarmingly, all the seized items were in common areas of the home that are easily accessible by the small children who reside in the home. Detectives found 2 baggies containing methamphetamine as well as rock salt packaged in a baggie to simulate methamphetamine in Taylor’s pants pockets when searched,” according to the release.

All evidence was logged and secured in DCSO evidence. The Department of Community Based Services was called to the scene to investigate the welfare of the children.

Taylor also had six active arrest warrants, two of which were probation violation warrants involving trafficking in fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine, according to DCSO.
