Bette Jo Mercer, 86, of Utica, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at her home. She was born December 12, 1937 in Daviess County to the late Bethel and Ethel Burden. Bette Jo was a faithful member of Panther Creek Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees. Bette Jo loved her family, church, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Carl L. Mercer; a son, Scott Mercer; and siblings, Elwanda “Sissy” Akers, Shirley Bell, and James Burden.
She is survived by her son, Carlus Mercer (Stacy); other children, John McDonald (Nancy), Byron McDonald (Andrea), and Michelle Green (Jeff); grandchildren, Jason Mercer (Jennifer), and Kristy Rodgers (David); other grandchildren; Caitlin, Harper, and Preston McDonald; three great-grandsons, Blaine, Judson, and Levi Rodgers
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
