The Air Force Junior ROTC unit at Apollo High School earned the prestigious “Exceeds Standards” rating during their evaluation earlier this month, marking the highest rating attainable.
Under the leadership of Captain Michael Yashack and Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Franklin Smith, the program aims to create a dynamic and supportive learning environment that fosters personal growth, leadership, and civic responsibility.
“Apollo High School cadets demonstrated exceptional dedication, teamwork, and pride in achieving their unit goals,” a release from the school reads. “Their performance reflects the program’s commitment to excellence and its mission to cultivate future leaders.”
Apollo Principal Bob Dych said the AHS Air Force JROTC aligns with the school’s goals of helping students, whether they enter the military or not, to build and practice skills they will need once they graduate
“In addition, the program is a vital part of our school community that provides a place of belonging for our students,” he said. “Our JROTC program also serves our larger community through various service projects each year. We are blessed to have great leaders of Apollo Air Force JROTC and great students as cadets.”
