Griffith Avenue will again transform into a regional music mecca this June with the return of PorchFest OBKY, which has become one of Owensboro’s most popular annual events.

Set for June 14, this marks the 7th year of the free music festival, which will be presented by Furniture Warehouse this year.

PorchFest was created by Andy and Tamarra Brasher, who said they are excited to begin preparations for this year’s festival. The inaugural event in 2018 drew about 2,000 people, while crowds over the last few years are estimated to have included approximately 10,000 attendees.

Some of the success is a result of the unique format, with artists setting up on the front porches of houses up and down the street and crowds filling the lawns and sidewalks.

“It has been such a joy to watch PorchFest grow into such a wonderful community event over the years,” Tamarra said. “None of it would be possible without the gracious homeowners opening their porches, generous sponsors providing monetary support and of course our community for embracing the idea.”

Last year’s event featured nearly 40 acts across 12 stages on Griffith Avenue. The Brashers are currently working on this year’s lineup.

“With over 100 band/act submissions, we will start listening and selecting 30-40 acts to fill the stages,” Tamarra said.

The lineup and more details will be announced on PorchFest’s Facebook page closer to the date of the event.
