Beverly Jane Blackburn

Beverly Jane Blackburn went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, surrounded by her family at Breckinridge Health Extended Care Facility.

Beverly was born September 24, 1943, in Princeton, KY, daughter of the late Dennis and Verble Marvel of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her brother Dennis Marvel.

Beverly is survived by her husband Hoy Blackburn of Harned, KY; children Kathy and Charlie Helm, Susan and Jeff Lucas, Holly and Brad Norsworthy, all of Harned, KY.

11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren – Kendall (Josh), Savannah (Robert), Mariah (Jayson), Kyra (Zack), Wyatt, Cody, Caden, Jakob, Barrett, Eliana, Harleigh, Emmett and Elena.

She is also survived by her brother Gerald Marvel and his wife Sherlen of Madisonville.

In her early life, Beverly grew up the youngest with two older brothers. She told stories of Indian wrestling with them and being bribed by them to iron their shirts for a nickel. Her father was a Section Foreman on the Illinois Central Railroad, so Beverly and her family traveled widely and she loved her time on the railroad.

Beverly was a fantastic Christian lady and she loved the Lord. She was a member of the Hardinsburg Baptist Church and taught the preteen and teen Sunday School classes for many years. She was a bookkeeper and CSR as needed for Farm Bureau Insurance when Hoy was Agency Manager. As her daughters would say, Beverly was born to be a mother and she primarily spent her life caring for her family dearly – whether it be raising her daughters, helping raise her grandchildren or even caring for her own mother and mother-in-law when they became elderly. Beverly was an outstanding cook and offered to feed anyone that passed through the doors of her home. She loved to laugh, travel, ride the golf cart around the farm and play cards and other games with her family.

Funeral services will be held at Hardinsburg Baptist Church on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 11 AM with burial in the Freedom Cemetery under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 1 – 5 PM and Monday after 9 AM. All times are central.

Expressions of sympathy can be made in Beverly’s memory to Hardinsburg Baptist Church Youth Group or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
