Wednesday’s storms have caused several Daviess County residents to be without power, including businesses along Frederica Street and the Daviess County Public Library.

According to the Owensboro Municipal Utilities (OMU) Status Map 731 residents were without power at 11:30 a.m.

Kenergy Communications and Public Relations Specialist Leslie Neeley said 1,235 members were also without power.

“Normally the wind and trees are what cause these types of outages,” Neeley said. “Some are easier to fix because they are in one spot, but the tiny blue boxes [on the outage map] are more difficult as they are individual outages.”

Neeley encourages residents to use the outage map, to see how many people are affected and in what county. She said that any outages lasting longer than a few hours would be posted via Kenergy social media.

Neeley also encouraged residents to avoid moving downed power lines in the road or in residential areas.

“If you see a downed power line — do not approach it, please call Kenergy and report it as soon as possible,” Neeley said. “The sooner we know about those the better, that way we can get those addressed.”

To report a downed power line, please call Kenergy 1-800-844-4832.
