
CENTRAL CITY – Mary Anne Kirkpatrick, 98, of Central City was called to our Lord Jesus on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, KY. She was born on December 24, 1926, to Lillie Mae and Harry I. Blackburn in Paducah, KY. She married the love of her life, Isaac Beauchamp Kirkpatrick, on September 3, 1947, at St. Joseph Church in Central City, KY.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gary Beerbower; and son-in-law, Larry Smith.
Mary Anne was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church who profoundly relied on her religious conviction for guidance in life. She was an avid reader, a bridge player and a traveler. Known as “Nanny” by many, Mary Anne was a matriarch who balanced family, faith and fun. She lived with a loving and gracious spirit and thrived on a good laugh. She enjoyed daily morning walks and cheering on her family’s sporting events. A passionate Atlanta Braves fan, she did not miss a game in the last half century. She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving family include 6 children, Mary Sue Withrow of Paducah, KY; Cathy Robertson of Owensboro, KY; Jane Smith of Central City, KY; Barbara (Jimmy) Brannon of Central City, KY; Tommy (Karen) Kirkpatrick of Central City, KY; and Margaret (David) Hammet of Marion, IL.; 16 grandchildren, Kevin (Reagan) Robertson of Destin, FL; Carol Withrow (Travis Walker) of Tiline, KY; Dr. Kirk (Dr. Lisa) Withrow of Birmingham, AL; Matt (Megan) Brannon of Owensboro, KY; Katherine Withrow of Paducah, KY; Kelly (Brad) Davis of Bowling Green, KY; Todd (Meagan) Brannon of Beechmont, KY; Kim Withrow of Paducah, KY; John (Tara) Kirkpatrick of Owensboro, KY, Amanda Smith of Central City; Ellen (Silvio) Flaim of St. Louis, MO; Elizabeth (Brice) Foose of Lake St.Louis, MO; Ryan (Holly) Kirkpatrick of Park Hills, KY; Anne (Chris) Kozeny of St. Louis, MO; Neal (Madallyn) Kirkpatrick of Utica, KY; and Isaac Hammet of St. Louis, MO; and 25 great-grandchildren.
With her red hair and signature green outfits, Mary Anne was unforgettable to those she encountered. Our family will wear green on Friday in her honor.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Central City with Father John Ighacho officiating, assisted by Deacon Don Adams. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
