Wayne Austin 93, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025 at his home in Calhoun. Wayne Leon Austin was born October 27, 1931 in Rumsey, Kentucky to the late Clint and Effie Lindsey Austin and was married to the former Martha Leona Woosley on September 15, 1951.

Wayne retired as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a long-time carpenter, building several homes for both family and friends, and a farmer. Wayne was a member of United Church of God in Henderson and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

Wayne was a member of Calhoun Lions Club, Calhoun Jaycees and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was an avid golfer, playing at least three times a week up to the age of 93. Wayne loved being on the Green River, whether boating, picnicking or just being with friends and family. He always looked forward to and enjoyed a good card game, with pinochle and rook being some of his favorites. Wayne also loved his family and was very proud of his sons and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Austin; two brothers, Charles Austin and Darrell Austin and a sister, Freda Tabor.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 73 years, Leona Austin; three sons, Roger Austin (Janet), Bryan Austin (Kim) both of Calhoun, and Dr. Michael Austin (Andrea) of Utica; seven grandchildren, Kelly Brown (Joseph), Laura Beth Littlepage (Brice), Adam Austin (Jessica), Ashley Tuggle (Nathan), Stephen Austin, Luke Austin, and Ben Austin; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Station Baptist Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Wayne’s family from 4:30 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. Saturday and from 10:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Musters in Calhoun.
