Elizabeth Lowe Ashby

January 31, 1929 - June 9, 2019

Elizabeth Lowe Ashby, 90, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019. She was born January 31, 1929, in Warren County to the late Claude B. and Mary Jones Lowe. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1950 and began teaching secondary business education. She was co-owner of two businesses in Owensboro, “Middle of the Road Fashion Shoppe” and “Lit’l Bit of Kuntry.” She was a member of Century Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Woven Together in Western Kentucky Basket Guild. She enjoyed playing bridge, her bowling league and Aquasize group, knitting, sewing, needlework, and basket weaving. She kept her hands busy in many mediums of art. A glass-beaded angel Christmas ornament made by Elizabeth was hung on the 1993 White House’s Blue Room Christmas tree. And most of all she loved her family, her friends, and being “Mimi.”

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lindy Ashby, infant daughter Karen Ann Ashby, and a brother Joe K. Lowe.

She is survived by her children, son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Joe Ashby and Rev. Kay Ashby of Mansfield, OH, and daughter and son-in-law, Dot and Ray Biscopink of Owensboro; grandsons Ryan Biscopink of Chicago, IL, Rev. Stephen Ashby (Emily) of Cleveland, OH, and Eric Biscopink of Washington, DC; sister Rebecca Shipley of Bowling Green, KY, sister-in-law Grace Lowe of Smiths Grove, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Burial will take place at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
