Sharon Crisp, 80, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on January 30, 1945 in Owensboro to the late June and Wanda Thomas Frey. Sharon worked at Jagoe Homes for 37 years, retiring in 2014 to aid in the care of her son. She also kept the books for her husband and son’s business, C & C Construction. Prior to that, she had worked at her father’s business, Frey Brothers Trucking and Excavating, for 13 years. Sharon was affectionately known as Mamaw Sharon to not only her family, but friends of the family. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Numbers were her passion and she continued balancing her checkbook with paper statements even in her last days. She could often be found mowing grass or taking in a view from the swings at Smothers Park. Sharon led a faithful and modest life, often putting the needs of her loved ones first. She became the official unpaid therapist to her family, guiding them through not only life’s major challenges but minor inconveniences as well. Sharon loved spending time with family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life. Even in her last days, her face would light up when they walked in the room.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Crisp; brother, Carl Frey; and son, Steve Crisp.
She is survived by her daughter Kim Crisp Wells; daughter-in-law, Stacy Fulkerson Crisp; grandchildren, Zachary Crisp (Paige), Carri Crisp Moser (Casey), and Jacob Wells (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Carly, Grayson, Cameron, Collin, Walker and Alice; sisters, Debbie Sanders (Mike), Joyce Deweese (Tim) and Stacy Frey; sister-in-law, Angie Frey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
