Target stores across the nation began reporting register outages Saturday afternoon. Several Owensboro residents posted pictures and comments concerning long lines at the Owensboro store via social media.
When Owensboro Times reached out to the Owensboro Target store, an employee confirmed that there had been an outage and that the store was operating on limited registers. The employee also confirmed that there was an approximately 20-30 minute wait in line due to the time needed to process purchases.
A shopper who recently left the Owensboro store after an hour-long wait in line said their purchases were taken care of through a combination of handheld scanners and items being keyed in by hand.
The shopper also reported having to pay for items after every two to three items were scanned.
The employee was not able to give an estimated timeframe for when the registers would be back online.
According to the Target Live outage map on the company’s website, the Owensboro store is no longer listed as affected by the outage.
