DCSO: Owensboro man arrested after high-speed pursuit on Old Hartford Road

A 20-year-old Owensboro man was arrested Wednesday night following a high-speed vehicle pursuit on Old Hartford Road, according to a release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

The release states that around 11 p.m. on May 28, a DCSO deputy observed a black 2016 Cadillac CTS traveling 74 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 2900 block of Old Hartford Road. The deputy activated emergency lights and siren in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle reportedly continued southbound without stopping.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy initiated a pursuit and requested backup. During the pursuit, the driver was seen throwing items from the vehicle before coming to a stop in the 4300 block of Old Hartford Road. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody.

The release states that deputies located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a large sum of U.S. currency in the vehicle and in the suspect’s possession. All items were seized and logged into evidence.

The driver was identified by the sheriff’s office as Trevor L. Aull, 20, of 4001 Mt. Vernon Drive in Owensboro. He was transported to the Daviess County Detention Center and lodged on multiple charges. A DCSO deputy who is a certified law enforcement phlebotomist also drew Aull’s blood for evidence, according to the release.

Aull faces the following charges, per the sheriff’s office:

  • Fleeing or evading police, 1st degree
  • Reckless driving
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Speeding 26 mph or more over the limit
  • Failure to or improper signal
  • Failure to notify DOT of address change
  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance (aggravated circumstances)
