Bethany Sue “Susie” Burns Shelton, 79, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 surrounded by her family while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Susie was born on November 20, 1945 to the late Bob Burns and Dorothy Brumley Moore Burns. She was a 1964 graduate of Daviess County High School and retired from the Daviess County Board of Education where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Susie’s greatest pleasures and joys in life were her boys, her grandkids, and her family. She loved them all so very much and always told her grandkids, “I love you to the Moon and back!”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betsy Wedding and Bonnie Burns.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Shirley Dean Shelton; three sons, Sam (Angie) Shelton of Livermore and Rick (Rachel) Shelton of Owensboro and Mark (Emily) Shelton of Whitesville; grandchildren, Lindsey Wermling (Josh), Lexie Beard (James), Emily Shelton, Eva Shelton, and Jude Shelton; and three great-grandchildren, Oakleigh Shelton, Carter Beard, and Macie Wermling.
Private services will be held at James H Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
