Daviess County’s annual 4th of July celebration returns today with an evening of live music, kids’ activities, and more than 20 food vendors at Yellow Creek Park — all capped off by a fireworks display over the lake. Tonight’s festival is separate from the City of Owensboro’s celebration, which will take place Friday downtown.
The county’s annual fireworks festival is hosted by Daviess County Fiscal Court in partnership with Daviess County Parks & Recreation, with German American Bank returning as presenting sponsor.
The event is free to attend, with festivities beginning at 5 p.m. and fireworks scheduled for approximately 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs or blankets to grab a good viewing spot near the fishing lake.
The Andy Brasher Band will headline the evening with live music, produced by The Eric Group, while longtime Farm Broadcaster Jeff Nalley will serve as emcee.
Kids will have plenty to do before the fireworks begin. Equestrian Enterprises Incorporated will offer pony rides and a petting zoo, and Wild Child Inflatables is bringing at least a dozen inflatables along with other games. Wristbands for the inflatables are $10 each or three for $25.
