Cayden Ray and Levi Rogers were near unhittable Friday evening, combining for one earned run and 10 strikeouts over five innings to power the Owensboro Post 9 Bombers to an 8-2 win over the Elk City Mudcats-LeGrand. The Bombers scored a run in each of the first three innings, before adding two in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Talon Cartwright and Jude Evans combined for three hits and four RBIs, while Parker Heistand went 1-4 with an RBI. Jagger Pate, Grayson Smith, and Easton Blandford had the team’s three other hits.
“Tonight we played a very good ballclub in the Elk City Mudcats from Oklahoma,” Owensboro Bombers head coach Matt Freeman said. “Cayden Ray came out tonight throwing strikes to get ahead early in the count. Our offense scored early, which took the pressure off. Tomorrow we are back at it with a double header.”
