In loving memory of Ray Montgomery, August 17, 1948-August 3, 2025. We say goodbye to our lifelong teacher and guiding light, Ray Montgomery, who passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family.
A man of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion, Ray was the steady foundation upon which so many lives were built. His wisdom was shared not through many words, but through meaningful ones–spoken when they were the most needed. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ray led by example, teaching those around him how to live with humility, integrity, and love.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Peggy, whose partnership was a testament to enduring love. Together, they raised three children who carry his legacy forward: Tina (Phillip), Tim (Erica), and Tommy (Melissa). He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. Ray is also survived by his loving siblings: Frank (Margaret), Gene (Cheryl Fischer), Martha Farris (Wayne Riley) and sister-n-law Stacy Montgomery and their families, all of whom shared in a lifetime of family memories and bonds that could not be broken.
He was preceded in death by his beloved family members; his parents, Jack and Ruth (Roby) Montgomery; brothers Jim and Robert; and sister Mary.
A service to honor and celebrate Ray’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordsville, KY, with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, Ky, and on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
All who knew and loved him are invited to join us in remembrance of a remarkable man whose quiet example will continue to shape our lives for years to come. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit and lessons remain forever with us.
