The Owensboro Symphony will open its milestone 60th anniversary season on Saturday with “Crazy for Gershwin,” a celebration of the American composer whose fusion of classical and jazz reshaped 20th-century music.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the RiverPark Center and is sponsored by Owensboro Health.
The program highlights George Gershwin’s timeless works, including An American in Paris, Girl Crazy, and Rhapsody in Blue, featuring Principal Pianist Diane Earle performing the iconic piano masterpiece.
“Our 60th season celebrates the music that shaped America’s cultural voice,” said Music Director and Conductor Troy Quinn. “Gershwin’s genius lies in how he bridged classical and popular music, and this concert captures that unmistakable American spirit.”
Concertgoers are invited to arrive early for “Behind the Music with Troy Quinn,” a free pre-concert discussion held from 6:15-6:40 p.m. in Cannon Hall. The session offers a deeper look into the evening’s program and performers.
Tickets are available through the RiverPark Center box office, the Owensboro Symphony office, and Ticketmaster.com.
Season subscriptions for the Symphony’s five-concert series remain available through October 25, offering up to 25% savings and exclusive perks.
