Lula Mae Royal

Lula Hamilton Royal, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was born October 18, 1938 in Petit, Kentucky to the late John and Louella Krahwinkel Hamilton. She was a 1957 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School. Lula worked at G.E. in her younger years, and later retired from Daviess County Schools where she worked in the lunchroom at Philpot and was a bus driver. She was a member of the Owensboro Hillbillies Camping Club, NCHA-FCRV, and the Thruston Homemakers Club. She was also a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed crafts and making porcelain dolls. Most importantly she loved spending her time with family and friends. She was a member of Sts Joe and Paul Catholic Church.

She loved camping with her family so much so that she chose to spend her last weeks with them at the campground.

In addition to her parents, Lula was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Roger, Gene, Skeezie, Wilbur, and Carl Hamilton; four sisters, Dorothy Durbin, Mary Billings, Katherine Blincoe, and Imogene Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Bob Royal; 2 sons, Jimmy (Jane) Royal, and Michael Royal; three daughters, Patty Couden, Sharon (Grady) Cooper, and Cathy (Gaines) Johnston; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow the service at St. Anthonys Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
