Looking to finish 3-0 in district play, Dre’mail Carothers threw for five touchdowns to power Owensboro Catholic past McLean County 47-6.
Just under five minutes into the game, Shaiden Mitchell started the scoring spree for the Aces, scoring from two yards out. A few minutes later, Dre’mail Carothers found Xavier Maddox for a 14-yard touchdown.
In the second quarter, Carothers threw two more touchdown passes, finding Cam James from seven yards out and Maddox from 15 yards out. Leading 28-0 at halftime, the Aces’ high-powered offense continued to roll, with Carothers throwing another touchdown strike, this time to Cam Woodward. On the next possession, Miles Edge powered in from one yard out, but the ensuing extra point was blocked.
With a 41-0 lead entering the final quarter, Carothers threw his five touchdown of the night, finding Woodward for 60 yards. McLean County found the endzone near the end of the game, cutting the lead to 47-6.
Next week marks the final week of the regular season, with the Aces home against Elizabethtown and the Cougars hosting Ohio County.
