McLean County’s Aden Bolden has signed with Lindsey Wilson College to continue his football and academic career. The senior’s high school football career came to an end earlier this fall, helping lead them to a 5-5 regular season record, before dropping a heartbreaker in the playoffs. He stepped into a new role this season as the Cougars quarterback, but still found a way to hurt opposing teams with his legs.

The senior had a few other schools on his radar, including Kentucky Wesleyan College, as well as an out of state option in Ohio, but acknowledged that Lindsey Wilson had everything that would help him excel on and off the field.

“When I went on the gameday tour, everything the head coach told me was everything I was looking for,” Bolden said. “From football to academics and how they stay on you homework-wise. The way they are on their players and they want them to succeed. It was exactly what I was looking for, and it’s the kind of football I want to play for.”

After exploding for 1,439 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior, Bolden realized he had the opportunity to reach his dream of playing at the colligate level. From there, he started to improve upon his current skill set.

“The way I see the field, huddle, watching film, and in the classroom keeping my grades up,” Bolden said. “I knew I had to do everything I was already doing, but do it better, to have that chance to go and play college ball.”

Bolden acknowledged that his recruitment process started slowly, making him a tad worried at times before starting to pick up. He made his official commitment a few weeks ago, after his senior season had already finished.

Despite the ongoing negotiations with schools, Bolden made sure to stay focused on the field, something that wasn’t an issue. With the pressure gone from his shoulders, Bolden plans to keep up with his grades before getting back into the weight room to prepare for his freshman season.
