It was a positive night for the local teams as Daviess County and Owensboro both won.
Daviess County 55, North Hardin 40
Kennedy Lane scored 23 of her game-high 28 points over the last three quarters, as the Lady Panthers beat North Hardin 55-40. Riley Hayden caught fire in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 of her 14 points, and Jenna Stewart added five points.
“Kennedy Lane carried us offensively for three-fourths of the game,” Daviess County Head Coach Natalie Payne said. “She did a great job of getting to the rim and finishing against a very physical team. We played great team defense, and I was proud of our rotations. North Hardin is a very tough basketball team. We were able to capitalize off of our defense, and then our offense began to flow.”
Owensboro 56, Union County 38
Abby Sapp exploded for 23 points and Unique Carter-Swanagan added 12 points in the Lady Devils 56-38 win over Union County. Adrean Carothers hit a pair of threes to go along with her nine points, and Taylor Sowders finished with seven points.
“Our pressure defense caused turnovers and led to steals and baskets,” Owensboro Head Coach Wynn Harris said. “Abby had an excellent shooting night, and Unique and Adrean did a great job rebounding. I was happy defensively that we only allowed 38 points.
