Rachel Pence Foster has announced her campaign for re-election as Daviess County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA), emphasizing more than two decades of experience and her ongoing efforts to maintain fair assessments and transparency in the office.
Foster, 49, is a Republican and has served as the elected PVA since 2013. She has worked in the office since 2002, bringing a combined 23+ years of experience — even more, she noted, if you count her time helping with land surveying as a teenager.
“I am running for re-election to continue my service and commitment to the Property Valuation Administrator’s Office,” Foster said. “This office comes with a learning curve, and it is difficult for just any individual to be able to provide 23+ years of experience.”
Foster said one of the most pressing issues facing her office and the community is the continued rise in home sale prices without a corresponding increase in the Homestead Exemption, which helps reduce property tax burdens for qualifying homeowners.
“In order for the homestead amount to be increased, we have to speak to our legislatures and fight for an increase,” she said. “I am already involved with our PVA Association, trying to achieve that goal. I strive for a perfect balance between values required by the state and assessments placed on homes in Daviess County.”
Foster said she remains committed to transparency and accountability. She pointed to the free public access provided through the Daviess County PVA website as one example of how her office serves the public.
“I am and will be accountable to the people of Daviess County by running a transparent office,” she said. “The Daviess County PVA website is free and available to the public.”
