
Beatrice “Virginia” Crowe Evans, 99, of Whitesville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Virginia was born on August 1, 1926, to the late Joseph and Rosa Crowe. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, where she attended Mass as long as she was able. Her faith, belief in prayer, and trust in God’s guidance were ever-present and served as a good foundation throughout her life. These beliefs have rippled throughout her family, creating a lasting example of how to live well and prepare for life’s final journey back home.
Virginia dedicated her life to caring for her family, always making her home a happy one filled with fun, laughter, and a full cookie jar. She always met everyone she encountered with a friendly face and a natural kindness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paulinus Evans; children, David Evans and Debra Jean Evans; grandson, Justin Evans; and her siblings, Elga Simpson, Paul Crowe, and Gerald Crowe.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Barbara) Evans, Ronnie (Rechelle) Evans, Kenny Evans, Sharon Wilgus, Paula Evans, and Jeff Evans. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Chris Evans Alex Weis, Matt (Shannon) Evans, Mark (Kristen) Evans, Kristie (Denny) Miles, Laura (Jason) Buskill, Jason Wilgus, Whitney Wilgus, Corey (Kim) Hall, Terri (Joey) Basham, Lindsey Moore, Jessica (Bruce) Boarman, and Aaron (Taylor) Evans, along with 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a tremendous source of joy in her life.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. Visitation is from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Cecil Funeral Home with prayers said at 6:30 p.m.
