Volleyball recaps (Aug. 23): Summer Slam Day 1 results

After two matches each in pool play, volleyball teams will play three more today in their respective playoff divisions in the Apollo Summer Slam.

Apollo and Owensboro Catholic each advanced to the Gold Division Playoffs, and they would meet in the championship if they each win their first two matches. All of their games will be at Apollo High School.

Daviess County will compete in the Silver Division Playoffs and will play all remaining matches at Cliff Hagan.

Owensboro and Trinity will each play in the Bronze Division Playoffs. The Lady Devils will play two games at AHS and the Lady Raiders will play two at Burns Middle School. Each of their final matches will be played at one of those two locations depending on results from the first two matches.

FRIDAY RESULTS
Apollo beat McLean County 2-0 (25-9, 25-12) and Edmonson County 2-0 (25-7, 25-8). They play Henderson County at 9 a.m.

Owensboro Catholic beat Madisonville-North Hopkins 2-1 (22-25, 26-24, 15-12) and North Bullitt 2-1 (27-26, 17-25, 15-13). They play Central Hardin at 9 a.m.

Daviess County beat Webster County 2-0 (25-19, 25-22) lost to Green County 2-0 (25-22, 25-22). They play Frederick Douglass at 10 a.m.

Owensboro lost to Warren East 2-0 (25-19, 25-11) and Central Hardin 2-0 (25-9, 25-18). They play Madisonville-North Hopkins at 9 a.m.

Trinity lost to University Heights 2-1 (23-25, 25-9, 15-7) and Frederick Douglass 2-0 (25-14, 25-13). They play Webster County at 10 a.m.
