The Owensboro Sanitation Department has completed its final pass of leaf collection and will transition to limb collection season beginning today.
The Sanitation Department will collect tree limbs, brush, and bagged yard waste on residents’ regularly scheduled trash days. Materials must be placed behind the curb before 6 a.m.
Loose yard waste, such as leaves or vines, should be placed in bags or customer-provided containers, with a 30-pound weight limit per can or bag. Piles should be left behind the curb to keep storm drains clear.
Limbs must be smaller than 6 inches in diameter, with the cut end facing the street. Residents are asked not to block materials with vehicles or other obstructions.
The department will not collect dirt. Root wads must be thoroughly rinsed before placement.
Customers may also haul limbs and leaves year-round to the Daviess County Transfer Station at 2129 Grimes Avenue. Residents seeking free disposal must present a current sanitation bill and photo ID.
