Jason W. Goddard, 55, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was born February 4, 1971 to the late Ronald Moore Goddard and Sandra Rogers Goddard. Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College. He served the Owensboro Police Department for 21 years beginning in 2002. His time with this agency was extensive, serving as a Patrol Officer, Police Training Officer, Juvenile Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Emergency Response Team member, and more. He believed that serving the community went beyond the uniform, always supporting Operation Santa and Shop with a Cop.

Jason served Daviess County Public Schools as a School Resource Officer for the DCPS Police Department beginning in 2023. He quickly became the West Side Patrol Officer traveling to schools across the west side of the county, helping to ensure the safety and wellness of students and staff. He was known for his ability to connect with children of all ages and was always there to lend a helping hand.

His passion for helping students went beyond being a School Police Officer. He was a dedicated member of the Daviess County High School Boys Soccer staff, serving as assistant coach from 2016 to 2024. His passion for the sport went beyond developing great players, but developing great people to go out into the world. He was a high school soccer referee for 19 years. He also coached both his boys at United Soccer Club. Jason was known throughout the district for being a smiling face and a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Stacy Mills Goddard; two sons, Jackson Goddard and Keaton Goddard; sister, Julee Goddard; brother, Jeff Goddard; mother and father-in-law, Keith and Patty Mills; brother-in-law, David Mills (Hope); sister-in-law, Amanda Jones (Chad); and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Owensboro Christian Church. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.
