April 27, 1944 - February 21, 2026

Robert “Bob” Grawburg

Robert “Bob” Grawburg, 81, of Owensboro passed away February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 27, 1944, to the late Earl Leon and Viola May Grawburg.

Bob was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 25 years as a tool and die maker with MPD, a career that reflected his precision, skill, and strong work ethic. A proud Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Bob carried his love for his country and fellow servicemen throughout his life. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 4168 and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans #4, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696, and AMVETS Post 119.

Beyond his service and career, Bob was a man who enjoyed staying busy and living life fully. He loved building houses and working with his hands, took pride in a good game of pool, and found peace in hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way. Bob found great joy in the camaraderie of his fellow veterans, especially as a cook at AMVETS Post 119, where he shared his love of cooking with others. He cherished time spent with the “Bucket Brigade,” a close-knit group of friends who visited the local veterans’ posts to share stories and fellowship over a bucket of beer. Though Bob hadn’t had a drink in many years, he never missed his turn to buy—a simple gesture that spoke volumes about his generosity, loyalty, and heart for others.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny (Diane) Grawburg; sister, Marine Getts; and grandson, Eric David Thomas.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, of 40 years, Phyllis Webb Grawburg; sons, Shawn (Kathy) Grawburg and Leroy Thomas; daughters, Shannon (Jeff) Simpson and Bonnie (Jerry) Ramburger; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother Raymond (Darlene) Grawburg; brother-in-law, George Getts, and many nieces and nephews.
